Today we start plugging our important dates into our calendars!!

If you normally use a paper calendar, and haven't gotten one for the new year yet, be sure to pick one up soon!! I always get mine from The Dollar Tree. If I don't already have some, I will also pick up colored pens so I can kinda color coordinate things.

I'm assuming if you use an electronic calendar, you are all ready to go to start plugging things in!!

These are only suggestions...do the ones that fit into your life, skip over the ones that don't, and leave comments below of other ideas that you have & would like to share with the group!!

I would like to add in here...if, as you are going thru your calendar, come across things that you have scheduled to do that just don't make you happy...that make you feel dread instead of joyous anticipation...get rid of them!! Life is way too short!! {Only exception to this...if you have doctor/dental/eye appointments...these are NECESSARY to living a happy life!! Try changing your perspective on these kinds of appointments!!} I'm talking more like, if little Suzie is signed up for music lessons, but she really doesn't LOVE doing them. If it is more of a fight for her to practice, and to go to these appointments...go ahead and cancel them. Make more time for things you can really enjoy doing!

1. BIRTHDAYS: Find all of your family & friends' birthdays & mark them!! On my calendar, in the "notes" section on the side, I have also written: "Plan Ahead Birthdays", and listed anyone's birthdays for the following month. That way, HOPEFULLY, I will be better prepared with a card and/or gift for the next month!

2. HOLIDAYS: In my calendar, I used a highlighter to outline all the blocks that are holidays that we will celebrate & that my Hubby is off of work. Again, in the "notes" section on the side, I also list the upcoming holidays for the following month.

3. DATE NIGHTS: We NEED to have some special time set aside to just BE with our significant other!! It is a MUST!! So mark off some time to make it happen!! It can be just time at home, going out for coffee, dinner & a movie, etc!! For us, I have it marked on each day Danny gets paid, every other Thursday, we will go get some coffee at Starbucks. It's on the calendar now, and it is set...all year long!! {Of course, if something comes up, it is also totally flexible.}

4. CLASSES & OUTINGS: If you already know you will have CoOp on Fridays....add that to all your Fridays for that session, and the upcoming ones, too. For our family, it is Theater on Wednesdays. Our homeschool group's Teen Lunch is EVERY 3rd Friday...so I have that marked all year long as well.

5. DOCTOR & OTHER APPOINTMENTS: If you already have doctor appointments set, get them on the calendar so they won't be forgotten! IF you need doctor appointments set up...like for a yearly check up, shots, dental cleanings, eye appointments...find a day, and make all your appointments. Fill them in as you schedule them.

6. FAMILY GATHERINGS: Do you get together with family or friends during the year? Say at like holidays? Get those on the calendar now!! For us, for holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day...we do cookouts with my Husband's parents. I talked with my MIL and we decided to mark the Saturday before, 1pm, for all of those. We also have a Family Game Night planned with them 1x a month. I have them scheduled in my calendar for the whole year.

7. FAMILY NIGHTS: This one will be just for you, your hubby, & your kiddos!! Movie Nights, Family Game Night, Going out for ice cream, swim nights, etc. Get them on the calendar!! If they are already in the calendar, you will be less likely to book something else for those days.

8. VACATIONS & WEEKEND GETAWAYS: Pick a week or two...or some weekends...and get planning!! What would you like to do in 2018?? Camping weekends?? Educational field trips?? A day at the beach?? Going to go see the ocean?? Whatever it may be....get it put into the calendar!! Then, come January...you know it is upcoming, and you can start saving for those special times!!

Where did I get my inspiration in planning out our whole year??

Here is the video...
